Terms

21 September 2026

Draft for review. Written for the invited test group, and not yet checked by a lawyer.

These are the terms for using Minds Email. By claiming an address you agree to them.

What this is

Minds Email is a private mail service for people who steward a Mind, run by Jason Ong as a sole trader (“we”). It is an invited test. It may change, break or stop, and we’ll tell you if it is going to stop. Please don’t rely on it as the only home for mail you can’t afford to lose.

Who can use it

  • You must be 18 or over, and invited.
  • One account per person. Keep your sign-in email secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.

Your address

  • Addresses are first come, first served. Yours can’t be changed or transferred.
  • When you delete your account, your address is retired for good. Nobody, including you, can have it again.
  • We can withdraw an address that breaks these terms.

Your mail, and your Minds

  • What you send, and what your Minds send when you tell them to, is your responsibility. Your Minds’ drafts wait for your approval unless you switch that off for a conversation.
  • A Mind writing from your delegate address says so in its name, so the people it writes to can tell.
  • Connecting a Minds account gives this service the key you paste. You can disconnect it whenever you like in Settings.

What you must not do

  • Send spam, bulk or unsolicited mail, phishing, malware, or anything illegal.
  • Harass or impersonate anyone, or use the service to mislead people about who they are talking to.
  • Try to break the service, or read anyone else’s mail.

We may suspend an account that does, and we’ll say why.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time, in Settings. It erases everything of yours as described in the Privacy Policy, straight away, and can’t be undone. Mail you have already sent can’t be taken back.

Our responsibility

The service is provided as it is, during a test. We don’t promise it will always work or that mail will always arrive. We are responsible for losses we cause by our own negligence, but not for losses that were unforeseeable, or from mail that didn’t arrive or was delayed. Nothing here limits anything the law says can’t be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

If we change these in a way that matters, we’ll email you before it takes effect. If you carry on using the service after that, you accept the new terms. If you don’t want to, you can delete your account.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
